Call for bid to host the NORDTEK Secretariat with the position of Secretary General

Dear NORDTEK Member, To make the Network management structure more appropriate for its current size and ambition, NORDTEK is reorganizing its management and aims at establishing a secretariat for day-to-day management of the network activities. The AGM has decided that the future NORDTEK Secretariate shall be hosted at one of the member Institutions.

NORDTEK members are invited to bid on becoming the host institution for the new management body – NORDTEK Secretariat with the position of Secretary General

 

We call for NORDTEK member institutions to apply for the call of hosting a secretariat. The benefits for the institutions would be:

 

  • Hosting the secretariat would help enhance the internationalization efforts of the institution and direct connection to the management of 27 Nordic-Baltic Higher Education Institutions
  • Day to day management of the Nordic-Baltic network of ca 28 members and growing would put your institution at the hotspot of information exchange about research, education and policy on the Nordic-Baltic region and beyond
  • It would give a higher national and international visibility for the hosting institution.

 

Key definitions

  • NORDTEK Secretariat should become the main network management body, which responds to the Board and the President. 
  • NORDTEK Secretariat is to be hosted by one of the member institutions.
  • Host institution is assigned for a 5-year period.  
  • The Secretariat consists of the Secretary General (SG) and supporting team. The team composition might change over time, while SG is expected to remain the same person for the full secretariat assignment period. 
  • Initial estimation suggests the secretariat to take 1.5-person position (~1 full position for the SG and ~0.5 for other staff under the discretion of the host institution).
  • NORDTEK is willing to cover most of the secretariat expenses. Further details shall be negotiated and covered in the signed contract. 
  • NORDTEK expects the host institution to contribute and engage into successful NORDTEK development.

 

The bid to become the host institution should include:

  1. Letter defining the institution’s motivation to host the secretariat and its view of the NORDTEK network development.
  2. A candidate name for the Secretary General position with detailed CV
  3. Estimated costs of the Secretariat, including the SG position.

 

Timeframe:

  • Universities should express their interest in becoming the new secretariat not later than November 8th, 2024.
  • The selection process and contract details shall be sorted before 1st of January 2025.
  • The new Secretariat should start operating not later than February 1, 2025.
