Co-operation with the neighbours – teacher exchange in Luleå

By | August 12, 2022

Eetu-Pekka Heikkinen  from University of Oulu  spent at semester at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) during Spring 2022.
The exchange stay was supported by Nordplus teacher mobility scholarship.

At the university, Eetu-Pekka Heikkinen was involved and was teaching the course of Högtemperaturprocesser (High temperature processes) in which he had a chance to meet local students and to visit SSAB Luleå steel plant. Participation in the lectures also gave him many useful ideas on how to improve the corresponding course at the University of Oulu.

Although his six month visit to Luleå is now over, he is very glad to realise that this is definitely not the end of the co-operation. LTU is a close neighbour of engineering education and academic technological research. Research units of process metallurgy in both universities share similar interests and research goals and hence it has been – and will be – beneficial for both units to deepen the co-operation with each other as well as with metallurgical companies in the fields of both research and education.
Already we have agreed on joint seminars and more  exchanges for the next academic year.

Eetu-Pekka Heikkinen would like to acknowledge NORDTEK for making my exchange in Luleå financially possible as well as professors Timo Fabritius and Caisa Samuelsson for giving me this possibility to visit LTU for six months.
